From a young age, Julia’s stubborn streak became a defining trait, one that they have harnessed into a superpower to drive their business forward. This tenacity, first evident when they wanted to “fax my rules to the world” in first grade, has now become a cornerstone of their leadership at SOLUtion Medical.

SOLUtion Medical, a company focused on revolutionizing drug delivery, was born out of necessity for Julia. Diagnosed with congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH), a rare and life-threatening medical condition, Julia understood the challenges faced by those in need of quick, reliable medication administration during an adrenal crisis. “Right now, a 14-step medication is what’s available,” Julia explains. “It’s very hard to self-administer, especially under stress. SOLUtion Medical’s prefilled syringe and auto-injector provide a simpler, more effective solution.”

TRANSFORMING ADVERSITY INTO INNOVATION. Growing up in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Julia faced the dual challenges of their medical condition and societal expectations. Their childhood, marked by frequent medical emergencies triggered by physical stress, shaped their resilience and determination. Julia’s drive to help others with CAH has been unwavering since their grad school days. They earned degrees in kinesiology and nutrition, gaining valuable experience in hospitals and clinics.

The journey led Julia to realize they didn’t fit traditional molds as a young, LGBTQIA+ non-binary founder in the pharma world. This realization only fueled their determination to create inclusive and universally designed products at SOLUtion Medical. “I don’t fit molds in pretty much every way,” Julia says. “But that’s what drives me to ensure our products are designed for people from all walks of life.”

Julia’s in-built resilience, combined with their identity and medical condition, serve as powerful driving forces behind the company’s success. INCLUSIVITY IN PHARMA. Julia’s experience as an LGBTQIA+ founder has shaped SOLUtion Medical’s approach to inclusivity, emphasizing the importance of designing products that cater to diverse physical abilities and identities. Working with around 18 nonprofits worldwide, Julia ensures that SOLUtion Medical’s solutions reflect the needs of patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals alike. “We want our products to be universally designed,” Julia says. This commitment to inclusivity extends to their leadership style, where Julia values open discussions about identity and representation, even when they are challenging.

Orchestrating team collaboration across functions and sorting through the complexities of the pharmaceutical industry have presented significant challenges for Julia. However, their ability to sift through information, triangulate diverse needs, and build a cohesive strategy has been crucial to their success. “Navigating the dynamics of people, especially those with large personalities, is the hardest part,” Julia admits. Yet, their resilience and adaptability have allowed them to overcome these obstacles and lead SOLUtion Medical toward a promising future.

Beyond their professional achievements, Julia finds joy in simple pleasures. Whether it’s taking walks, tending to plants, or enjoying a meal with loved ones, these moments provide balance in their busy life. “My favorite thing is eating food with my favorite people,” Julia says. This love for sharing experiences over meals reflects their holistic approach to life and work, where quality time and meaningful connections are valued above all. Through SOLUtion Medical, Julia is not only transforming drug delivery but also paving the way for a more inclusive and patient-centered approach in the pharmaceutical industry.
